Assigning attributes to any objects

You can use the Assign Attributes to Elements tool to assign object names and attributes to one or more elements (e.g. architectural components, lines, circles, 3D solids). You can only select attributes that can be modified. This lets you generate any objects which can then be analyzed and evaluated using lists and schedules.

To assign attributes to an element

1. Click Assign Attributes to Elements (How).
   

   Activate Assign Attributes to Elements in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Modify Bonus Tools Object Manager

   • Palette: Tools Modify area in the following module(s):

   Object Manager

2. If you want you can now change Object names and attributes for the element.
   The context toolbar provides several options.
   

   • Click Properties to set the parameters in a dialog box.
   • Click Match to copy the settings form an existing element.
3. Select the elements to which you want to assign the attributes.
   

   • To select a single element, click it.
   • To select elements in a region, use the left mouse button to open a selection rectangle around the elements you want to select
   • To include all the elements in the current document, click All in the Input options or press CTRL+A. Please note that this option is not available for all tools.

   When selecting elements, you can use the Filter Assistant to apply a filter based on element types and/or properties. For more information, see Filter Assistant.

4. Click Apply or right click in the workspace to perform the operation. When you click Close or press ESC to quit the tool without selecting Apply first, all changes will be lost.
