Transferring, deleting object attributes

You can use the Transfer, Delete Object Attributes tool to apply the attributes of an object to a number of other objects. You can also delete object attributes.

To apply the attributes of an object to other objects

1. Click Transfer, Delete Object Attributes (How).
   

   Activate Transfer, Delete Object Attributes in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Modify Bonus Tools Object Manager

   • Palette: Tools Modify area in the following module(s):

   Object Manager

2. Click the element whose attributes you want to apply or delete.
3. Now you can modify or delete the object's attributes.
4. Specify how to handle objects' attributes:
   • With the New attributes option, any existing attributes of the target object are deleted and completely replaced by the new attributes. This way, you can quickly and easily replace a brick wall with a concrete wall, for example.
   • With the Add attributes option (set by default), the new attribute values overwrite any existing attributes. New attributes are attached (added) to the existing set of attributes. This option is particularly useful for applying attributes (e.g. brick type or strength grade) of a brick wall to another brick wall, for example.
5. Select the objects to which you want to assign the attributes.
   

   • To select a single element, click it.
   • To select elements in a region, use the left mouse button to open a selection rectangle around the elements you want to select
   • To include all the elements in the current document, click All in the Input options or press CTRL+A. Please note that this option is not available for all tools.

   When selecting elements, you can use the Filter Assistant to apply a filter based on element types and/or properties. For more information, see Filter Assistant.

   Note: If you want, you can now change the attributes of the selected object on the Transfer Object Attributes Context toolbar. Click Properties.

6. Click Apply or right-click in the workspace to perform the operation. When you click Close or press ESC to quit the tool, all changes will be lost.

Note: Any existing attributes assigned to these objects will be overwritten.
