Fitting to an outline

Tool(s): Element for Fit

To place elements so that they fit to an outline

  1. Click Element for Fit (How).
  2. Select a defined element in the Element tab.
  3. Select the following placing method:
    Place element along an outline or freely within a region.
  4. If you want, you can now define the placement in detail. Click Settings for Fit to Circle/Outline and
    set the placing method, placing parameters and the geometry.
    Click OK to confirm the dialog box.

    Note: The intersection conditions defined in the Element tab have no effect on elements placed fit to circle/outline.

  5. In the Smart Fit dialog box, click OK.
  6. Enter the region as you would a polyline.

    Note: With the placing region, you have the option to divide the placement into sections.
    If this is not required, press ESC to finish entering the placing region.

  7. Enter the placing line as you would a polyline.
  8. Offset direction
    Place the element on the inside or outside of the outline.
    The preview element attached to the crosshairs shows the direction in which the element will be placed before you actually place it.
  9. Press ESC to quit the tool.

Note: We recommend that you use the tools in the Draft module to draw the placing regions.

Repeat the steps above until all the regions have been fitted with elements. In this case, only single placements are possible.
To place and fit elements in a new region, the dialog box needs to be closed first.
