Convert Layout Section

Module(s): Crop Layout

You can use the Convert Layout Section tool to cut an area out of a layout and save this section as a separate layout. Define the section of the layout you want to cut using a layout border. If you have rotated the layout border when placing it, the layout you have cut out is rotated so that it is placed in a horizontal position.

To cut an area out of a layout

1. Display the layout in which sections are to be ‘cut out’ and use Layout Border (How) to position one or more borders.
   

   Activate Layout Border in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Create Layout

   • Toolbar: Basic Tools Layout flyout
   • Palette: Tools Create area in the following module(s):

   Layout

   Crop layout

   The layout borders delimit the areas to be cut out.

2. Click Convert Layout Section (How).
   

   Activate Convert Layout Section in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Create Crop Layout

   • Palette: Tools Create area in the following module(s):

   Crop Layout

3. Set parameters for the layout section.

   Note: The following error message might appear:

   No suitable layout elements available. Unable to create the layout section.

   This means that either the Reference scale (Ref LS) or the Angle parameter is not correct. These two parameters and the values which have been used to place the document in the original layout must be the same. Click in a data entry box and then click a document within in the layout border to adopt the value of this document. If documents with different scales/angles are within the layout border, only the documents that match the values you have set are cut out.

4. Click the layout border you want to cut out.

   The cut region is momentarily displayed and saved under the selected layout number.
   

Note: You cannot use Convert Layout Section with layouts that have already been cut.
