Editing drawing files

Module(s): Layout

You can use the Edit Drawing Files tool to open drawing files that are in a layout and edit them using all the tools available in the other modules. When you open the drawing file(s), Allplan creates the Layout fileset, which contains the selected drawing files.

To edit drawing files in a layout

1. Click Edit Drawing Files (How).
   

   Activate Edit Drawing Files in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Change Layout

   • Palette: Tools Change area in the following module(s):

   Layout

2. Select the drawing file(s) you want to edit.
   To select a number of drawing files, use the brackets feature or press and hold down the left mouse button and define a selection rectangle around the drawing files you want to select for editing.
   

   With the aid of the brackets feature, several elements and/or regions can be activated and manipulated jointly. You can open or close the brackets feature by clicking with the right mouse button in the workspace or by selecting on the Filter Assistant toolbar.

   

   • To select a single element, click it.
   • To select elements in a region, use the left mouse button to open a selection rectangle around the elements you want to select
   • To include all the elements in the current document, click All in the Input options or press CTRL+A. Please note that this option is not available for all tools.

   When selecting elements, you can use the Filter Assistant to apply a filter based on element types and/or properties. For more information, see Filter Assistant.

Note: This feature is particularly useful if you have imported an NID file or exchanged data with a partner office.
