Creating print files

Instead of printing your layout, you can create a print file. The data, which is otherwise sent directly to the output device and processed there, is written to a file which can be printed at any time.

The print file created can be sent to a printing service or you can print it later using Print HPGL File. When creating the print file, please check that you have selected the printer on which the file will be printed later. The procedure is different depending on whether you are using Windows drivers or Allplan vector drivers.

Allplan vector drivers are printer drivers supplied with Allplan and are available for certain devices. To use Allplan vector drivers, you need to define at least one output channel in the Services application.

A printer driver is a program that translates graphical commands into control characters (e.g., HPGL, PostScript) for a particular printer. You can use Windows drivers or Allplan vector drivers (in connection with output channels) as printer drivers in Allplan.

Windows drivers are printer drivers delivered with the Windows operating system or by the device manufacturer. In Allplan, either Windows drivers or Allplan vector drivers can be used for printing.

Tip: The Export HPGL File, Bitmap File tool provides a comfortable way of creating print files, as you do not need to define printers and/or output channels for this tool.
