Options, import and export

Overview of options
Saving, retrieving and resetting options

You can make general settings for the Interfaces module in this dialog box.

How to open the dialog box

DXF, DWG import

Offer smart symbol from catalog

You can select the smart symbol catalog you want to use for import operations. You can then assign all the smart symbols available in this catalog to the blocks in a AutoCAD file. For more information, see Assigning smart symbols to blocks.

Save smart symbol in catalog

You can select the smart symbol catalog you want to use to store imported smart symbols. For more information, see Assigning smart symbols to blocks.

Layer level 1 / layer level 2

Clicking this button displays the Layer dialog box. In this dialog box, you can select the first and second levels in the layer hierarchy where the import layers are to be inserted. The third layer level is subsequently assigned to the import layers automatically. The default setting is layer levels Extern 1 / Extern 2.

You can select the layer levels in the dialog box by clicking or entering them in the data entry boxes. You can also assign your own names for the layer levels; these are then created when the data is imported.

Note: If the layers specified here do not yet exist, the setting you make here is only valid when the Layer plus definition option is selected in the Interfaces Settings, Allplan specific tab. Otherwise, the imported layers can only be assigned to existing layers.

For drag-and-drop operations

When Show Open File dialog box (options) for drag-and-drop operations is selected, you can specify the options separately when you import *.dwg or *.dxf files. When this option is not selected, the program uses the import settings that are saved for the relevant file type.

DXF, DWG export

Export part

When you select this check box, you are prompted to select the elements you want to export. When this check box is not selected, all the elements in the current drawing file and in drawing files open in edit mode are always exported.

Hidden layers

When you select this check box, elements on hidden layers are exported.

Surface elements of architectural components

When you select this check box, surface elements of architectural components are temporarily given a separate layer during export to DWG, DXF, or DGN so that you can export them to a layer that differs from that used for the component. Click Assign to open the Assignment: component layer -> surface element layer for export dialog box, where you can assign separate layers to the surface elements.

This setting is project-specific and can be switched on and off quickly and easily; the assignments you have made are retained.

DXF, DWG, PDF export

Create name of destination file from:

You can specify what name is proposed for the export file.
When exporting in batch mode, you can select the name of the first file freely. The setting you define here applies to the names of the following files (2 to n).

Use prefix

When you select this option, the file name is given the prefix DF_ or PLAN_.
For example: The drawing file 10 Floor Plan is given the name: DF_10_Floor Plan (when set to Number + name).

When used in conjunction with the Export PDF Data tool (Layout module), the Use prefix option has the following effect:

With unnamed layouts and the Use prefix option being active, the names of all PDF files are preceded by the prefix Plan, which is followed by the number of the layout. Otherwise, the layout number is used for the file name.

With named layouts and the Layout or drawing file number option being active, the layout name is used as the prefix, which is followed by the number of the layout.

Name of destination file

With unnamed layouts and drawing files, the file name is always based on the number of the layout or drawing file, regardless of the selected setting. Otherwise, the following applies:

Layout or drawing file number

With this setting, the file name is based on the number of the layout/drawing file.
For example: the drawing file 10 Floor Plan results in a file called 10.

Layout or drawing file name

With this setting, the file name is based on the name of the layout/drawing file. Please note that if some drawing files have the same name, it is not possible to create unique file names.
For example: the drawing file 10 Floor Plan results in a file called Floor Plan.

Layout or drawing file number and name

With this setting, the file name is based on the number and name of the layout or drawing file.
For example: the drawing file 10 Floor Plan results in a file called 10_Floor Plan.
