Changing reference points

Module(s): Dimension Lines

You can use the Change Ref Points tool to change the position of reference points (i.e. the dimensioned points) of a dimension string.

To change the reference points of a dimension line

1. Click Change Ref Points (How).
   

   Activate Change Ref Points in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Modify Dimension Lines

   • Toolbar: Basic Tools Dimension Lines flyout
   • Palette: Tools Modify area in the following module(s):

   Dimension Lines

2. Click the dimension line whose reference points you want to change.

   The reference points are shown as small markers.

3. Select the reference points you want to change.
   

   • To select a single element, click it.
   • To select elements in a region, use the left mouse button to open a selection rectangle around the elements you want to select
   • To include all the elements in the current document, click All in the Input options or press CTRL+A. Please note that this option is not available for all tools.

   When selecting elements, you can use the Filter Assistant to apply a filter based on element types and/or properties. For more information, see Filter Assistant.

4. Enter the new position in one of the following ways:
   • Enter the reference point and the end point.
   • Enter the X and/or Y vectors.
5. Press ESC to finish.
6. To modify the reference points of more dimension lines, repeat steps 2 to 5.
7. Press ESC to quit the tool.
