Cut with area

Module(s): Draft

You can use the Cut with Area tool to cut design entities using an area. Design entities like lines, circles, hatching or patterns are cut into discrete entities where they are intersected by the boundary of the area.

To cut design entities using an area

1. Click Cut with Area (How).
   

   Activate Cut with Area in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Modify Draft

   • Palette: Tools Modify area in the following module(s):

   Draft

2. Enter the area as you would a normal polyline.

   The area is displayed in the construction line color.

   The elements cut are displayed in the selection color.

Note: When you a select a tool (e.g., Delete) immediately after you have defined the area, you can address all the elements in the area by clicking Reselect in the Filter Assistant or by double-clicking with the right mouse button in the workspace.
