Exporting loaded drawing files / loaded layout with resources

Working with documents and NDW and NPL files

You can use this tool to export all the loaded drawing files (current - edit - reference) or the current layout as a separate NDW file to a *.zip file. The resources are saved with the NDW files. You cannot specify the names for the drawing files you are exporting. The program always uses the file names of the drawing files.

This tool is particularly useful for exchanging data between two offices that are working with Allplan on a project-specific basis. The first office exports the drawing files with resources and the other office imports this data using Add Drawing Files and Layouts with Resources to Project. If the resources are defined differently, you can specify in a dialog box how they are to be adjusted.

To save drawing files as NDW-format files with resources

On the File menu, click Export - Export Loaded Drawing Files / Loaded Layout with Resources.
Select the folder where to save the NDW files, enter a name for the *.zip file and click OK.
All the loaded drawing files (current - edit - reference) or the current layout with the drawing files placed are saved as an NDW-format file. You cannot specify file names for the drawing files you are exporting. The program automatically uses the file names of the drawing files or of the layout.

Note: You can also use Save As... (How) to save the active drawing file or layout as a NDW file. However, this tool is only available when you have licensed it explicitly. The Export Loaded Drawing Files with Resources tool is always available, regardless of your license.
