Moving or replacing labels with label styles

In the same way as smart symbols, a label style can consist of a number of foils for different reference scales. When defining a label style with several foils, you need to answer the following question prior to saving it:
'Should it be possible to select foils individually?'

The setting you make here applies not only to foils but also to their individual components. It also applies when you move a label style or replace a label style with another one using Replace Label Style (How).

Activate Replace Label Style in one of the following ways

Yes (the foils can be selected independently)

• You can select and, for example, move each element of the currently visible foil separately.
  To select all the elements of the visible foil in one go, you can select them as an entity group.
  

  An entity group is a group of elements which can be addressed as a whole. Polylines constructed in one step, for example, or symbols are entity groups. A group can be addressed as a whole by clicking one of the elements in the group with the middle and then left mouse button. Alternatively, press and hold down the SHIFT key and then click the element with the left mouse button. Elements can be combined into an entity group even while being created (with the Assign Group Number tool) or later (with the Modify Format Properties tool).

• Invisible foils are not changed.
• In the case of labels styles that consist of a single foil, you can always select the individual components independently of each other.
• When you replace the label style, the new label style is placed at the position of the original label style. Any move is undone.

No (the foils are selected together)

• Clicking any element of the currently visible foil automatically selects all elements and foils.
• Invisible foils are changed, e.g. moved.
• When you replace the label style, the new label style is placed at the position of the old label style.
