Tool(s): Smart Symbol + Modify Smart Symbol
General smart symbol properties
Number
Enter the item number of the smart symbol. You can enter a six-digit integer for the number.
Factor
You can define the number of superimposed smart symbol layers by entering a factor. Although the program displays only one instance of the smart symbol in plan, it manages the actual number internally.
Relative height
If you select this check box, you can associate the height of the smart symbol's bottom level with a plane.
Link
You can choose to associate the smart symbol with the element (for example, a roof covering or room) where you placed it. This is important when you place the smart symbol or run analyses using reports later.
You can choose from the following settings:
Consider
When defining and modifying smart symbols, you can specify how a smart symbol placed in a room with finish specifications is displayed in animation and in sections.
You can choose from the following settings:
This setting applies regardless of the Place 3D smart symbols at height of lower plane setting in the Options - Smart symbols and symbols page - Smart symbols area.
Note: You can also assign one of these settings to all the smart symbols in a folder later.
Format
You can define the format properties of the smart symbol and its components:
When set to Element, every individual element of the smart symbol is drawn with the format properties that were specified when the smart symbol was saved.
When set to Placement, all the elements of the smart symbol are drawn with the format properties assigned to the instance of the smart symbol.
Sequence
You can define the sequence in which the smart symbol and its components are displayed:
When set to Element, every individual element of the smart symbol is drawn based on the sequence that was specified when the smart symbol was saved.
When set to Placement, all the elements of the smart symbol are drawn based on the sequence assigned to the instance of the smart symbol.
More attributes
You can define additional attributes for the smart symbol.
For example, the variables V6 to V9 are available by default.
When you click ..., you can assign and enter additional attributes as you would in the Object Manager.
You can enter predefined values/text for the attributes when you define the smart symbol.
You can also do this when you place the smart symbol.
