Creating Temporary Plane for Rafters/Rafter-Supporting Purlins

The position of the temporary planes is the region where the rafters will subsequently be placed.

To create a series of rafters using a temporary plane

  1. In the Input options, click Custom to create a temporary plane.
  2. Define the roof slope by specifying the Angle and the height of the Eaves.
  3. Enter the temporary plane or placing region by
  4. Press ESC to finish defining the placing region.
  5. Any outlines you enter now within the region will create recesses within it.
    Press ESC to finish entering.

    Note: The outline of the recess must be completely within the temporary plane or placing region. If this is not so, the program will issue a message.

  6. Click on the outline of the eaves now to apply the slope for the plane.
    If you want the plane to pass through a specific point, click Set Point and then a point in 3D view.
    You can repeat this step as often as necessary. The current position and orientation of the plane in 3D space is visible if you are working in isometric or elevation view.
    If you do not define a slope, a reference line has to be defined prior to placing.
  7. Press ESC to finish entering.

    Now define the rafters.
