General approach

Module(s): Object Manager

The Object Manager is a versatile module you can use to accomplish a wide range of different tasks. Consequently, the general approach may vary from task to task. The main steps involved are described in the following section.

To work with the Object Manager module

  1. Open the documents or insert a scanned-in layout based on which you want to create objects.

Note: Depending on the task, it is advisable to make a copy of the original data first so that you don't lose it in the process.

  2. Define surface, line or general objects based on existing elements and assign attributes.

Use the following tools to do this:

    Surface Object

    Line Object

    General Object

Note: You can only combine 2D elements and 3D objects into a general object. Architectural elements cannot be used.

  3. Click Export Object Manager Data and export the information to an external program.

Note: When you export an *.xac file from Allplan to Microsoft Excel, change it there and then import it back into Allplan, you need to save it in *.xac format in Excel. Alternatively, save the file in *.txt format (tab-separated) then rename it *.xac.
Saving the Excel file in a binary format (*.xls or *.xlsx, for example) may cause the formatting of the table to change.

  4. When you have modified the data in the external program, use Import Object Manager Data to re-import the data into Allplan.
  5. The layout updates automatically and can be printed.
