The Calculate vertical surfaces at adjacent components only option applies to rooms and stories.
When the Calculate vertical surfaces at adjacent components only option is not selected (default setting), vertical finish surfaces are always calculated based on the entire outline of the room as rooms are often created based on 2D drawings. For stories, the program calculates the outside vertical finish surfaces based on the entire outline of the story.
When you select this option, vertical finishing surfaces of rooms and stories are only calculated for adjacent components (walls, columns, upstands, slabs). This is useful for entrance areas or balconies, for example. This option can only be applied to rooms and stories delimited by 3D architectural elements like walls.
