Draw parallel polylines consisting of 3D lines

Tool(s): Offset 3D Polyline

To draw parallel polylines consisting of 3D lines

1. Click Offset 3D Polyline (How).
   

   Activate Offset 3D Polyline in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Create Bonus Tools 3D Modeling

   • Palette: Tools Create area in the following module(s):

   3D Modeling

   The Offset 3D Polyline dialog box appears.

2. If you want, you can now modify the parameters in the Offset 3D Polyline dialog box.
3. Set the start point of the first line by clicking a corner or an end point of an existing solid or line.

   All the lines that make up the parallel 3D polyline are shown attached to the crosshairs using the arrangement you have defined.

   

   The parallel lines can be beside, below or on top of each other.

   The manner in which the lines are arranged is governed by the line you select in the Ref. line column. The position of the other lines is based on this reference line.

   Note: If you want to join the new parallel polyline with an existing polyline, you need to select a criterion in the Join based on area and make sure that specific conditions are fulfilled.

   

   • The number of lines that make up the polyline you want to join with an (existing) polyline must not exceed the number of lines that make up this (existing) polyline (= the polyline you click first).
   • Each line of the first polyline must match a line of the other polyline. You can define the criterion that is to be fulfilled in the Join based on area.
   

   You can lay down the criteria defining how two parallel polylines are joined.

   • Do not join
   • Lines that have the same consecutive number are joined.
   • Lines that have the same color are joined.
   • Lines with the same name are joined.
4. To set more points, do the following:
   • Click a corner or end point of an existing solid or line.
   • Enter the dx, dy and dz vectors.

     The other lines that make up the parallel 3D polyline are drawn using the arrangement you have defined.
