Linear fixtures, defining geometry

Tool(s): Define Fixture

You can define a linear fixture using a three-dimensional polyline for which you can specify any line type, width and color. Linear fixtures can also be displayed with pattern lines.

To define the geometry of a linear fixture

  1. Specify the line type, width and color of the linear fixture
    or
    Select a pattern line.
  2. To specify the outline, click Selection....
  3. If you want to place a linear fixture so that it is perpendicular to an axis, you can use the Point View option to select a point symbol in order for the linear fixture to be displayed more clearly. The selected symbol is then displayed in the relevant view.
  4. Click OK to apply your settings.
  5. Choose whether the linear fixture gets the default layer or the layer currently set on the Format toolbar.

Note: If the Place instance of smart symbol on current layer setting is active in the Options, Smart symbols and symbols page, linear fixtures get the layer that is currently active when you place them, regardless of the setting you make when you save them.
