3D rectangle freely positionable

Tool(s): 3D Line

To create a 3D rectangle that is freely positionable

1. Click 3D Line (How).
   

   Activate 3D Line in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Create Bonus Tools 3D Modeling

   • Palette: Tools Create area in the following module(s):

   3D Modeling

   • Configuration: Design Basic 3D Elements flyout
2. Click 3D Rectangle on the 3D Line Context toolbar.
3. Click Free 3D entry in the input options.
4. Set the first corner of the 3D rectangle.

   Tip: Using Back you can undo as many steps as you want.

5. To set the first edge,
   • click in the workspace or
   • enter the length of the first edge and click in the workspace to specify the direction in which the edge is to extend.
     

     The program expects you to specify a direction point when the position of an element in 3D space has not been defined explicitly.

     To enter direction points, do the following:

     • Click in an elevation or isometric viewport to enter the direction above or below an element.
     • Click an existing point in an elevation or isometric viewport. The direction is defined based on its Y and/or Z coordinate.
     • When you click a point in plan view, its Z coordinate is not used.
       You can use the Brackets tool and Delta Point to enter a Z coordinate for this point.
6. To define the second edge,
   • click in the workspace or
   • enter the length of the second edge and click in the workspace to specify the direction in which the second edge is to extend.

     (F) Length of 2nd edge
