You can set any color and define gradients and transparency. Start with the Color gradients area at the top and specify whether you want to create a Fill, a Fill with a single-colored gradient or a Fill with a two-colored gradient.

Parameters of the Color palette available for normal fills. When you have selected fills with gradients, you can access this palette by clicking the Color 1/2 button in the Color area.

Color system

Color system

Select the color system.

Color file

Select a color palette (color file) in the selected color system. You can also delete color palettes or create new ones here.

Color name

Choose a color in the selected color palette. You can also use this option to delete colors from the palette.
If the current RGB setting matches a color entry in the selected palette, the name of the entry is displayed here.

New entry

Use this option to enter and name a new color in the palette. This option is only available when ‘Color system’ is set to Custom RGB Palettes.

Color

You can see a preview of the new color and of the old color. Select a color by clicking the required color in the color circle. You can use the slide bars to define the brightness and transparency.

Define color

You can define the color by entering numerical values at the keyboard. In conjunction with the R(ed)G(reen)B(lue) color spectrum, you can enter values between 0 and 255.

Use this to adopt a color from a bitmap.

Matches the RGB color values of a pixel (or bitmap); the cursor changes to a magnifier

 

Arrow keys

Moves the magnifier in increments of one pixel

Moves the magnifier in increments of eight pixels

 

+/- keys on the number pad

Changes the zoom factor of the magnifier

Parameters of the Color palette available for fills with gradients.

Note: You can use Export PDF Data to export fills with transparency to a PDF file. All you need to do is select the Export document as a bitmap option.
However, the amount of data generated increases significantly, which may cause problems when you want to send or import PDF files of large layouts.

Note: When it comes to printing, there are some restrictions for fills with gradients and/or transparency.

Color

Color 1 / Color 2

Click the Color buttons to select the color. For this, the palette described above opens. The slide bar for defining the transparency is not available.

Transparency

This is where you can set a starting value and an end value for the transparency of the color gradient. The squares, which are displayed in the background of the preview, help you judge the degree of transparency.

Properties

Angle

This is where you can enter an angle between -180 and 180 degrees by which the color gradient is rotated.

Shading styles

You can choose between the following shading styles: Linear, From corner, From center or Round.

Variants

You can select from one of the four options provided per shading style.
