Importing and exporting from/to AutoCAD’s model space and paper space
You can import or export data to/from AutoCAD’s paper space.
- Paper space: AutoCAD’s paper space is similar to a layout in Allplan. You define the layout in paper space; any changes you make have no effect on the model.
- Model space: AutoCAD’s model space can be compared to Allplan‘s document edit mode.
You can also choose whether to convert to or from AutoCAD's model space or paper space in the Options dialog box, AutoCAD specific tab.
Important: when you have exported a file to paper space, you have to select the Paper space option for importing, too. Otherwise the following error message appears: Document has been filtered and is empty or Error 2050.
You can toggle between paper space and model space:
- When exporting from the Plot Layout module. If the Layouts / XRef files or Convert XRef to smart symbol option is enabled in the Options dialog box, Advanced Settings tab, you can only export data to model space.
- When importing to a document.
You cannot toggle between paper space and model space:
- When importing data to the Plot Layout module: paper space is predefined.
- When exporting data from a document: model space is predefined.
