Importing using drag-and-drop operations
You can import files from external systems by dragging and dropping them from Windows Explorer onto a drawing file or layout. Please note the following:
- When you import data using a drag-and-drop operation, the program creates the log file but does not display it on screen. For more information see Saving and naming the log file.
- When you select the Show Open File dialog box (options) for drag-and-drop operations option ( Options, Import and export page, DXF, DWG import area), you can specify the options for each import process separately. When this option is not selected, the program uses the options that are saved for the relevant file type. For more information, see Saving settings.
- When you press and hold down the CTRL key while importing data using drag and drop, the imported file is attached to the crosshairs and can be placed in the workspace as you need.
- The error message Error Number 2050 means:
- When importing to a drawing file: the DXF or DWG file only contains ‘paper space’ data. However, you can only import files with model and paper space data to drawing files. In this case, do not use drag and drop to import the file. Rather, select the Import tool (How) and enable model space in the system-specific options.
- When importing to a layout: the DXF or DWG file only contains ‘model space’ data. However, you can only import paper space data to Allplan layouts.
- When importing HPGL files: The file being imported contains data in PCL and/or RTL code. However, the Allplan interface only supports HPGL and HPGL2 native. Discuss this with your data exchange partner in advance.
