Place XRefs

Using XRefs

When placing XRefs, you can set the following parameters:

Anchor point

This is the point at which the XRef is attached to the crosshairs when you place it in the workspace.

Drawing file number

The number of the drawing file to be placed as an XRef is displayed. When you click the drawing file number, the Drawing File dialog box appears. You can select a drawing file.

Place

Use this to define how XRefs are placed:

Resize

You can enter the scale at which the XRef is placed. To enlarge the XRef, enter a number < 1 (e.g. 0.5). To reduce it, enter a number > 1. When Original position is enabled in the Place area, the scale is set to 1:1 and cannot be altered.

Rotation angle

You can define the angle at which the XRef is placed. Positive angles result in a counter-clockwise rotation.

Placing mode

Here you can specify whether the XRef is placed as a normal XRef or as an advanced XRef. For more information, see Comparison between normal and advanced XRefs.

Planes (only available with advanced XRefs)

You can specify whether the default reference planes from the source document or the target document are used. Custom planes are always taken from the source.

Source: the default reference planes defined in the document placed as an XRef are used.

Target: the default reference planes defined in the document in which the XRef will be inserted are used.
