Setting filesets to modifiable

Running Workgroup Manager, several users have read access to a fileset at the same time. But only one user has write access to a fileset at any one time; an open fileset is therefore protected from unauthorized writing. ‘Write access to a fileset’ means that you can rename the fileset or change its drawing file assignment.

When you open a new fileset, it is modifiable by default. When you switch to a different fileset or disable the Set fileset to modifiable option on the shortcut menu, the read-only property is removed from this fileset.

You can see at a glance which filesets (and drawing files) have been opened by another user: red locks are displayed in the status area.

When you open a fileset marked by a red lock, Allplan will issue the following messages: Object in use and Fileset cannot be modified. The fileset is loaded but you cannot alter it.

You can use the Drawing can be modified option on the shortcut menu to set filesets to modifiable so that they can be altered by other users.

A fileset can only be altered by the user who has opened it in modifiable mode. Otherwise, only temporary drawing file assignments can be created.

If you want another user to be able to modify a fileset, you need to remove the protection and then the other user has to activate it again.

To change the protection status of filesets

  1. Click Open on a Project-Specific Basis (How).

Tip: You can also double-click the left mouse button in the workspace.

  2. Right-click the fileset whose status you want to change. On the shortcut menu, select Set fileset to modifiable.

Note: If the Set fileset to modifiable option is not available (grayed out), a different user has already opened the fileset in this mode.
