Placing a link to a file

Tool(s): Link

You can use this tool to place a link to a file. By linking to a file, you can associate a drawing file with the contents of an ASCII file, for example. The link is displayed as a button. When you click the button while pressing and holding down the CTRL key, the file associated with the button is displayed in the appropriate application.

Note: Place links to files that are directly in the current project folder. Do not use subfolders in the project folder. These links are always valid, even if the path name changes (for example, when you copy a project or change the configuration).

To place a link to a file

  1. Click Link (How).
  2. Click File link.
  3. In the dialog box, select the file you want to link to.
  4. Enter the aspect ratio and place the link.
  5. Use one of the following methods to define the angle at which the link is placed:

Note: To change a link you have already placed, double-click the link or click it with the right mouse button and choose Properties on the shortcut menu. The Properties palette also displays the link and you can change it there.
