Assign Group Number

After activating the Assign Group Number tool, the elements you draw are given the same group number. You can either use an existing element’s number or enter a new number. A group can be addressed as a whole by clicking one of the elements in the group with the middle and then left mouse button. Alternatively, press and hold down the SHIFT key and then click the element with the left mouse button.

When Assign Group Number is not active, consecutive group numbers are automatically assigned to new elements as you draw them. You can change the group number of an element using Format Properties on the shortcut menu of an element or using the Modify Format Properties tool.

To assign group numbers automatically

1. Click Assign Group Number (How).
   

   Activate Assign Group Number in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Format

   • Toolbar: Special
2. Define the group number in one of the following ways:
   • In the Input options, click Match and click the element whose group number you want to use.
   • In the Input options, click New to define a new, unassigned number.

     The elements you draw from now on are assigned this group number.

3. Click Assign Group Number again to quit this tool.
