Creating an isometric view with dimensions

Tool(s): Hidden Line Image, Wireframe

When you create a hidden line image based on an isometric view in Allplan, the axes are shortened in a DIN-compliant manner in order to obtain a realistic representation. In compliance with DIN, the axes are shortened by two-thirds (that is 0.8165 in Allplan). But this fixed factor is only applied to standard isometric views; in the case of custom views, this factor differs as the viewing angle on the axes is different.

If you want to create an isometric view that can be dimensioned, you need to resize the hidden line image by this factor.

To create an isometric view that can be dimensioned

  1. Choose one of the four standard isometric views.

  2. Create a Hidden Line Image.
  3. Switch to the file with the result.
  4. Resize the entire isometric view by a factor of 1/0.8165.

Now you can dimension the hidden line image.
