Importing 3DM files (Rhino)

Using Content

Program: Allplan 2015

3DM files contain 3D elements. The data is transferred as 3D surfaces and placed in Allplan using the original coordinates. Complex objects such as NURBS are converted to Allplan polyhedrons; you can specify the density and thus define the accuracy of the transfer.

The following properties are transferred:

Note: You may need to render objects with curved surfaces in Rhino before you import them to Allplan.

To import 3DM files (Rhino)

  1. Download the file.
  2. Decompress the file and save it in any folder on your computer.

Tip: It makes sense to use the same folder for data of the same format.

  3. Start Allplan 2015.
  4. Click Import on the File menu and then Import Rhino Data.
  5. Select a file and click Open.

Tip: You can also import *.3dm-format files to Allplan by dragging them from Windows Explorer.

  6. Enter a value for the Density (10 - 200) and click OK.
The higher the value, the higher the degree of accuracy.

Note: If the object has been rendered in Rhino, the original density is used for the import. You do not need to enter the Density.

The original coordinates are used to place the 3D model in the current document.

Exporting 3DM files

You can use Export Rhino Data (File menu, Export) to export 3D elements from Allplan to *.3dm-format files.
