Importing SURF files

Using Content

Program: Allplan 2015

SURF files are Nemetschek surface files. They encompass textures, color and transparency settings as well as the values used to resize and move the texture. When defining architectural elements and solids, you can select SURF files as custom surfaces or as surfaces of element colors. They are only visible in the animation and in rendered images.

Note: SURF files with textures only contain a reference to the associated bitmap file in a standard format. Therefore, you need to download and copy the bitmap file to the design folder of the office standard (...\std\design) unless it is already stored in a folder of the computer.

To import SURF files

  1. Download the file.
  2. Decompress the file and save it in any folder on your computer.

Tip: It makes sense to use the same folder for data of the same format.

  3. Start Allplan 2015.
  4. Open a tool that you can use to assign an animation surface to an architectural element or solid, Assign Custom Surfaces to 3D, Archit. Elements, for example.
  5. Depending on the selected tool, click Surface file, the button or Open favorite file.
  6. Select the folder and the file you have downloaded.

The surface file is assigned and copied to the design folder of the current project.

Tip: You can also drag a SURF file to a component.

Tip: It is a good idea to save new SURF files in the design folder of the office standard (...\std\design).

Saving and exporting SURF files

You can use Save surface file as a favorite to save all the settings you define in the Surface Settings for Color x dialog box as a surface file in SURF format.
