Modifying the height of terrain points

Module(s): Site Plan

You can use the Modify Terrain Point Height tool to modify the height of terrain points - for example, to modify the point symbols on an element so that they automatically adjust to a gradient drawn in 2D. The only requirement is that the terrain points must exist as 3D symbols.

To modify the height of terrain points

  1. Click Modify Terrain Point Height (How).
  2. You can use the Input Options to specify whether you want to use the terrain points on the Selected element in its entirety or on a Part of the selected element.
  3. Click the element on which the terrain points are located. When set to Part of selected element, specify the section by clicking the start and end points.
The start point is indicated by a small direction arrow.

Note: When you click points outside the element, the points on the element that are perpendicular to the points you clicked are used.

  4. Enter a scale factor In the Input Options.
  5. Click the element (the gradient) whose height values you want to adopt.
  6. Enter the height in the reference point or click a point whose height you want to use.

Example of adopting the terrain point height

Note: The element’s arc length and the X axis of the gradient must have the same length. Otherwise, only the points that can actually be counted as part of the gradient are calculated.
