Tread

Context toolbar for defining a stair’s line of travel and geometry

When you have defined the outline of the stair, you can use the Tread parameter to specify the tread.

Usually, the value of Step and Rise do not change. The tread is recalculated according to the tread-to-riser ratio.

(A) Tread

If you enter a value here, the tread is regarded as locked. Changing the number of the steps causes the length of the stair to change.

However, if you click Free or enter 0, the tread is no longer fixed and its value is derived from the length of the line of travel and the number of steps

Note: When you create stairs with double quarter landings, you cannot enter a tread length as the offset between the landings is fixed. Clicking LockOffLd releases the offset between the landings and you can change the tread length. However, this may change the outline and position of the stair.
