Stair wizard

You can use the Stair Wizard tool to create the main standard stairs with just a few entries. The approach for modifying stairs is the same as with standard stairs: the dialog box for the relevant stair type opens and you can make the desired settings to adapt the stair to your needs and requirements.

To create stairs using the Stair Wizard

1. Click Stair Wizard (How).
   

   Activate Stair Wizard in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Create Architecture Stairs

   • Palette: Tools Create area in the following module(s):

   Stairs

   • Configuration: Architecture Stairs flyout

   The Stair Wizard dialog box opens.

2. Select a stair type, enter parameters and click OK to confirm.

   A preview of the stair is displayed attached to the crosshairs.

3. Set the anchor point on the Stair Wizard Context toolbar. The program automatically uses the nearest corner of the stair outline. In addition, you can flip the direction in which the line of travel is created using Flip Direction.
   

   In the icon, click to place the transport point.

   The following options are available:

   

   

   

   With openings (for instance doors and windows) only the following options are available:

   

   Tip: You can rotate the stair before you place it by using shortcuts or clicking in the dialog line and entering a cursor snap angle at the keyboard.

   

   To rotate components using the option provided in the dialog line, do the following:

   • Use the TAB key to activate .
   • Before you place components, you can
     • Press the ‘+’ key to turn the element by the angle specified in a counter-clockwise direction.
     • Press the ‘-’ key (minus) to turn the element by the angle specified in a clockwise direction.

   You can also use shortcuts to rotate components based on a cursor snap angle.

   The following shortcuts are available for rotating elements:

   • Press CTRL+^ to turn the element by the angle specified in a counter-clockwise direction.
   • Press CTRL+< to turn the element by the angle specified in a clockwise direction.
   

   The following shortcuts are available for rotating elements:

   • Press CTRL+^ to turn the element by the angle specified in a counter-clockwise direction.
   • Press CTRL+< to turn the element by the angle specified in a clockwise direction.

   You can also rotate components in the dialog line by entering a cursor snap angle at the keyboard.

   To rotate components using the option provided in the dialog line, do the following:

   • Before you place components, you can
     • Press the ‘+’ key to turn the element by the angle specified in a counter-clockwise direction.
     • Press the ‘-’ key (minus) to turn the element by the angle specified in a clockwise direction.
4. Place the stair in the workspace.

   Note: The layer currently set on the Format toolbar will be assigned to the entire stair (including all components).

5. Place the stair’s label, if necessary.

Note: The following options are available for modifying a stair created with the Stair Wizard:

• If you modify the stair by double-clicking it with the left mouse button or selecting Properties on the shortcut menu, the "wizard stair" property is retained. Change the parameters in the Stair Wizard dialog box. When you click OK to confirm, the stair is created again based on the new parameters; all you need to do is place the label.
• Double-clicking a wizard stair with the right mouse button opens the Stair Wizard dialog box, where you can create another wizard stair with the same parameters and attributes.
• When you use Modify Stair to change the stair, the dialog boxes of the standard stair type open. You can add more stair components, such as handrails, or assign materials, animation surfaces, layers etc. to the individual components. The "wizard stair" property is lost; you can no longer modify the stair using the Stair Wizard dialog box.
