Joining linear components

Module(s): Basic: Walls, Openings, Components + Special: Walls, Openings, Components

You can use the Join Linear Components tool to join two freestanding linear components (e.g. walls, beams, upstands, strip foundations) in plan view. In the case of T-connections, the first component you click is lengthened or shortened as appropriate; the other component does not change. In the case of corners, either linear component can be lengthened or shortened. The component you click second is given a higher priority.

To join linear components (e.g. walls)

  1. Click Join Linear Components (How).
  2. Click the linear component you want to join with another component of the same type.
In the input options, click By Layer to join walls with multiple construction layers by using a layer-by-layer approach.

Note: With multi-tier walls, special attention should be paid to the priority rating set for each of the construction layers in the wall.
More information on priority rating with multi-tier walls.

  3. To join the selected linear component with a second component of the same type, do the following:

Note: You can join straight components with circular components (e.g. curved walls). But this approach does not work the other way round: circular components can only be lengthened or shortened by means of direct object modification. Join Linear Components cannot be used.
