Filter by Architectural Component
Module(s): various modules in the Architecture family
The Filter by architectural component tool on the Filter Assistant toolbar (available after activating a modification tool) facilitates the process of selecting architectural elements within a selection window.
You can filter elements according to the following criteria (or combinations thereof):
- Component area
Select one or more architectural elements as filter criteria.
Only those components that actually exist in the drawing file are displayed.Note: Vertical surfaces, ceilings, floors and baseboard you have defined using the Room tool, Finish tab, are part of the room and cannot be selected, filtered and found by clicking or enclosing them in a selection rectangle. To do this, you can use All in the Input options (if available).
- Thickness area
You can enter a specific wall thickness as a filter criterion. All components whose (total) thickness matches the value you have set are found, for example, all single-tier and multi-tier walls with the respective (total) thickness.Note: An exception is Change Archit. Properties. Via Thickness, you can look for the individual layers of a multi-tier wall.
- Object name area
Here you can enter or select object names as filter criteria to find parent elements. - Use the Object name button to select object names in the dropdown list, which is also used for the assignment of object names. The object names selected are then listed in the Object name area.
- Material area
Here you can enter or select materials as filter criteria. The list of materials presented here varies, depending on the selection made by using the Material button. - Use the Material button to select materials from the catalog that has been set by using the Catalog button. These materials are then listed in the Material area.
- Use the Catalog button to switch between a pulldown menu and the individual catalogs.
- Click Advanced >> to define detailed selection criteria.

Click Open Favorite File to retrieve saved settings later and adjust them, if necessary.
