Dimension view

Module(s): Associative Views

You can use the Dimension View tool to dimension views automatically. This dimensioning is associated with the view so that any modifications you make to the view (move, copy, delete, etc.) will affect it, too.

To automatically dimension an associative view

1. Click Dimension View (How).
   

   Activate Dimension View in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Create Engineering Views, Details Associative Views

   • Palette: Tools Create area in the following module(s):

   Associative Views

2. Click Dimension Line or Elevation to specify the dimensioning type.
3. Specify the dimension line parameters.
   Several options are provided on the context toolbar for this.
   

   • Click Properties to set the parameters in a dialog box.
   • Click Match Properties to copy the settings form an existing element.
   • Click Load favorite to select saved parameter combinations.
4. Click the view you want to dimension. Dimension lines and dimension text are automatically determined and placed.
5. To dimension more views or sections, click the next view/section.
6. Press ESC to quit the tool.
   

Notes:

• Double-clicking existing dimension lines with the left mouse button opens the Dimension Line dialog box so that you can modify the parameters.
• If you have already created dimensions of the same type ( Dimension Line or Elevation), the existing dimensions are modified to reflect the altered parameters. Otherwise, new dimensions are created.
  This way, you can use the two dimensioning types to create dimensions in one go.
• If you want to delete the automatically created dimensions of a view in a single operation, click Delete, activate the dimension lines option in the element filter and specify the region in which the dimensions are to be deleted.
