Subtracting and removing solid

Module(s): 3D Modeling

You can use the Subtract and Remove Solid tool to remove the common volume of one solid from another. The intersecting solid is deleted in the process. This tool can also be applied to 3D surfaces.

Note: The solid from which a volume is subtracted retains its properties and attributes.

To remove the common volume of one solid from another while deleting the intersecting solid

  1. Click Subtract and Remove Solid (How).
  2. Start by selecting the solid (or surface) from which a volume is to be subtracted.
  3. Select the intersecting or overlapping solid(s) or 3D surfaces. If required, use the brackets feature.

The intersecting solids/surfaces are deleted in the process.

Note: You can use 3D solids to remove the common volume of a 3D surface; but this is not possible vice versa.
