Creating volume from intersection

Module(s): 3D Modeling

You can use the Create Volume from Intersection tool to create volumes/surfaces from the intersection of two solids or 3D surfaces. The original solids/surfaces are deleted in the process and new edges are created at the points of intersection (for solids).

Note: The solid you select first defines the properties and attributes of the new solid.

To create volumes from the intersection of two solids

  1. Click Create Volume from Intersection (How).
  2. Select the first solid. This solid defines the properties and attributes of the new solid.
  3. Select the second solid.

A new solid is created based on the volume of intersection, and the original ones are deleted.
New edges are created at the points of intersection and the new polyhedron can now be addressed as a single 3D entity.

    (1) Select the first solid
    (2) Select more solids
