Updating layouts

You can use the Update Layout tool to adjust all the documents placed in the layout to the borders delimiting them.

To update layouts

• Click Update Layout (How).
  

  Activate Update Layout in one of the following ways

  • Menu bar: Change Layout

  • Toolbar: Basic Tools Layout flyout
  • Palette: Tools Change area in the following module(s):

  Layout

  All the documents placed in the layout are adjusted to the borders delimiting them. After this, the tool is closed automatically.

Notes:

• If the Update extents of layout elements and detailing windows automatically option is selected in the Options on the Layouts page, this tool has no effect, as the data is adjusted automatically as soon as you select the layout.
• This tool is particularly important for updating detailing windows.
• If the layout contains documents you have deleted or moved later, the program displays and prints the path of the layout element instead of its contents. By applying this tool, you can delete these documents from the layout.
• If the layout contains documents whose contents you have deleted later, these documents are not displayed even if they still have a name or icon. Applying this tool has no effect. The documents stay in the layout.
• Documents whose entire layout element contents are not displayed due to layer visibility settings are only represented by their border.
