Importing NID files

Module(s): Layout

You can use the Import NID File tool to import an NID (Nemetschek Internet Document) file. When the file is imported, a new project is created. This is to prevent any data in the current project from being overwritten.

In addition to NID files of versions earlier than Allplan 2015, you can also import NID files of subsequent versions, where data do not need to be converted.

To import an NID (Nemetschek Internet Document) file

  1. Click Import NID File (How).
  2. Select the file you want to import. Any information supplied with the file is now displayed - comments, bitmap, date and so on.

Note: The date indicates whether you have included the resources (line types, hatching styles etc.) when you created the NID file.

Import operations are always performed in a new NID project. This is to avoid the risk of data in the current project being overwritten.

  3. The new NID project name is based on the name of the original project. For example

    TownHall

    (name of original project)

    TownHall (NID 4.0)

    (NID project name)

    The name consequently indicates

  4. Click OK to automatically create or update the NID project and to import the file.

Tip: You can also import NID files into Allplan by dragging them from Windows Explorer to Allplan’s workspace.

Note: After importing the file, the program will automatically switch to the new project.
