Printing HPGL files

You can use the Print HPGL File tool to print layouts of which you have created print files. This is only possible when the print files were created with Allplan vector drivers.

Allplan vector drivers are printer drivers supplied with Allplan and are available for certain devices. To use Allplan vector drivers, you need to define at least one output channel in the Services application.

A printer driver is a program that translates graphical commands into control characters (e.g., HPGL, PostScript) for a particular printer. You can use Windows drivers or Allplan vector drivers (in connection with output channels) as printer drivers in Allplan.

• Print files are created when you select the Print to file output mode for printing layouts.
• Print archives can no longer be created and output using the current version. You need an external program in order to archive data.

To print existing print files

1. Click Print HPGL File (How).
   

   Activate Print HPGL File in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Create Layout

   • Palette: Tools Create area in the following module(s):

   Layout

2. If necessary, click the button under Output channel, device to select the output channel.
3. Click OK to confirm the settings.
4. Select the print files you want to print.
   

Note: The message This tool requires an output channel indicates that you have not defined an output channel in the Services application. Consequently, Allplan vector drivers are not available for output.
