Location optimization (with Windows drivers)

When using Windows drivers, location optimization is set in the driver itself. The procedure varies from driver to driver.

To optimize the location using Windows drivers

  1. In the case of older drivers, set the printable area so that it matches the size of the layout as closely as possible. When you use more recent drivers, the printable area should match the format of the paper in the device.
  2. Place the layout border within the printable area of the page.
  3. Place the drawing files in the layout border without rotating them.
  4. Activate the Optimize location option as follows (this example uses DesignJet 650C under Windows Vists/XP):
  5. Click Start at the lower border of the viewport, click Control Panel and then select Devices and Printers or Printers and Faxes.
  6. Click the printer icon with the right mouse button and, on the shortcut menu, select Printer properties or Properties.
  7. Click the Device Settings tab.
  8. Set the Auto Rotate Form to Save Roll Paper option to Yes.
