Importing patterns as hatching

AutoCAD does not clearly differentiate between hatching styles and patterns. Actually, AutoCAD patterns are complex hatching styles and are thus called ‘hatching patterns’. When importing AutoCAD data into Allplan, some patterns are interpreted as hatching (and can be assigned to Allplan hatching styles). Information on these patterns is provided in the ad_tools.dat file, #HATCHNAMES section. You can edit this file and add patterns to this list. Consequently, these patterns are imported as hatching styles.

To import the EARTH hatching pattern as a hatching style, for example, you need to add the EARTH line to the #HATCHNAMES section. When you restart Allplan, the AutoCAD EARTH hatching pattern is interpreted as a hatching style and can be assigned to Allplan hatching styles. For this, the hatching pattern must consist of straight lines only.

Note: Make sure that the name of the pattern is not more than 31 characters long. The name may only contain the following characters:
1234567890abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz$-_

Important: This requires in-depth knowledge of the operating system, Windows Explorer and text editors. Never modify the original without making a copy first! If you make an error or save a file incorrectly, you can still fall back on the original file if need be.
