Assigning reference files during import

Files in .dgn, .dwg or .dxf format can contain what are known as external references. They are attached to the current file. When you import files with external references, be sure to note the following:

• XRefs can be converted to smart symbols during import: enable the Convert XRef to smart symbol option on the Advanced Settings tab in the Interfaces Options (ODX).

  

• When this option is not enabled, XRef files are always placed in a drawing file, regardless of the contents of the files. In other words, you cannot arrange the contents of different layers on several drawing files when you use XRef files.
  In the Interfaces Options (ODX), Allplan 2015 specific tab, you can specify how the drawing files to which XRefs have been imported are inserted in the current drawing file.

  

All options disabled

When all options are disabled, all XRef files are inserted as XRefs in the current drawing file.

Distribute (discard 1:1 placement)

When this option is enabled, all XRef files placed one-to-one (i.e. they are not resized, rotated and have the same drop-in point) are inserted as drawing files open in edit mode and not as XRefs.

Discard all placements

When this option is enabled, all XRef files are inserted as drawing files open in edit mode, regardless of how they are placed. This may alter the appearance.

Create fileset with imported documents

When this option is enabled, the program creates a fileset containing the current drawing file and all imported XRef files.
