What is the layout structure?

The layout structure provides a comfortable tool for structuring and organizing layouts in Allplan. Using structural levels, you can apply a logical structure to all the layouts in a project. You primarily work with the shortcut menu and use drag-and-drop operations. In addition, various buttons are provided. You can quickly find entries in the layout structure by entering a search term at the keyboard and pressing the F3 key.

If you have not yet created a layout structure or deleted it completely, only the All layouts folder is displayed below the project node. This folder always contains all 9,999 layouts. In this case, Allplan always expands this folder when you open the dialog box and scrolls to the active layout so that it is displayed in the middle of the dialog box.
You can use the shortcut menu to specify the scope of the layouts displayed and to sort the layouts numerically or alphabetically.

To structure layouts, you can insert additional layout folders with any number of subfolders under the project node. You can assign each layout to exactly one of these additional folders. By linking layouts, you can also assign layouts to more folders. When you select a link, the associated layout is selected automatically.
To increase performance, Allplan only provides information on these layouts if the All layouts folder is expanded when you select the Open on a project-specific basis: layouts dialog box. This means that if the active layout is only in the All layouts folder and this folder is closed, Allplan will not display the active layout. In this case, open the All layouts folder and press the F4 key to go to the active layout. But if the active layout is in another folder, Allplan will always open this folder and scroll to the active layout.

Note: If a layout structure exists for a project, you can show and hide the All layouts folder using the shortcut menu of the project folder. This definition only applies to the current project. If the layout structure of a new project was created automatically or taken from an existing project, the All layouts folder is hidden by default.
In projects without a layout structure, the All layouts folder is always displayed, and Show "All layouts" structural level is selected and grayed out.

You can copy and move folders and layouts within the layout structure as you need. When copying, you specify the new layout numbers before you insert the layouts copied. You can also create structural levels without layouts.

Quick access to tools in the layout structure using mouse and keyboard.

Allplan comes with several predefined layout structures that are created automatically when you select a predefined building structure. You can use them as a basis for your own structure.
The layout structure is also included when you use an existing building structure of a different project.
