Analyzing and evaluating rooms of the as-built and new building categories

Building alteration drawings, demolition drawings and revision plans are the graphical elements of building alteration work. You have already created them. Now you still need to analyze and evaluate areas and quantities. If you have worked with 3D components, you can quickly and easily calculate quantities and areas based on these drawings and plans.

Basically, there are three different approaches:

• Calculation of as-built data (floor space and area according to DIN 277; TAI quantities)
• Calculation of demolition data (including quantities and areas of openings to be created) by component type (e.g. wall, door, window) or vertical room surface
• Calculation of new building data (floor space and area according to DIN 277; TAI quantities and areas)

Note: You will only achieve correct quantity takeoff operations when demolition and new building objects do not intersect (e.g. demolition wall must not intersect new building wall). For this, you need to make sure that new building elements are not in the same drawing file as demolition and as-built elements. In addition, place each category (as-built, demolition, new building) on a separate layer. This ensures that you can show and hide the categories individually.

Basically, the following applies:

• As-built data is calculated based on the as-built layout (copy to separate drawing file; do not include demolition and new building elements); as-built rooms are created and thus calculated in the as-built layout.
• Demolition data is calculated based on the demolition drawing.
  Requirement: new building elements are in a different drawing file; new building layers are frozen.
• New building data is calculated based on the revision plan. New building rooms are entered and thus calculated in the revision plan.
  Requirement: demolition elements are in a different drawing file; demolition layers are frozen.

Building alteration category for all room-specific components

Similar to components, the building alteration category attribute is also available for groups of rooms and stories, rooms, stories and finishing surfaces of rooms. This way, you can explicitly define these elements as demolition, as-built or new building elements. As a result, you can analyze and evaluate all objects separately based on the building alteration category you assigned.
