Granting Access Rights for Drawing Files, Layouts and Filesets

Using Attributes

If you are working in a network, you can set access rights for filesets, drawing files and layouts. The access rights are controlled by the Owner and Write permission attributes. The creator of an object is automatically registered as the owner - this person may also designate another user as the owner with the same permissions.

• These attributes can only be assigned in a network environment in which the Workgroup Manager has been installed. Otherwise, the attributes are merely displayed.
  

  Workgroup Manager handles the organization of CAD workstations in local networks. The Workgroup Manager module enables users to access all projects on all computers from every workstation. It ensures data consistency even if several users are simultaneously working on the same project.

To set access rights for drawing files, layouts and filesets

1. Click Open on a project-specific basis (How).
   

   Activate Open on a Project-Specific Basis... in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: File

   • Keyboard: Ctrl+Alt+O

   • Toolbar: Standard
2. Select the drawing files, layouts or file sets to be assigned attributes and then click in the selection with the right mouse button.
3. On the shortcut menu, click Properties and select the Settings tab.
4. Set the Owner and Write permission attributes.

   Objects may be accessed as follows depending on how the Write permission attribute is set:

   Write permission	Access right (edit, rename, delete) for
   All	Everybody who has access to the project
   Owner	Owner of the object
   Nobody	Nobody
