Transferring custom smart symbols to partner offices using the external path

You can use the external path to transfer individual custom smart symbols to partner offices.

In the Library palettecopy the relevant smart symbols to the External path folder using the clipboard. Transfer the entire contents of the external path to your partner office.

To add the smart symbols to the Smart symbols library, the partner office copies the data to the external path. Then the partner office opens the Library palette to add the smart symbols to the relevant folders.

To copy individual smart symbols to the external path

1. Open the Smart symbols library in one of the following ways:
   • Click Smart Symbol Catalog (How).
     

     Activate Smart Symbol Catalog in one of the following ways

     • Menu bar: Create Bonus Tools Smart Symbols

     • Palette: Tools Create area in the following module(s):

     Smart Symbols

   • Select the Library palette and open the Smart symbols folder.
2. Navigate to the folder or smart symbol you want to copy.
3. Point to the folder or smart symbol you want to copy and click Modify.
4. Click Copy.

   The folder or smart symbol is copied to the Windows clipboard.

5. Navigate to the External path folder to which you want to add the folder or smart symbol.
6. If necessary, create a new smart symbol folder (e.g. ”Exchange") in the External path folder.
7. Click the folder with the right mouse button and choose Insert on the shortcut menu.

   The folder and its entire contents or the smart symbol is inserted.

   A folder tree is created for the smart symbols in the external path so that the partner office can add the individual smart symbols.

8. Transfer the entire contents of the external path to the partner office.

To import smart symbols (partner office)

1. Copy all the data you have received to the external path (or to the floppy disk drive or to any folder and set the external path to this folder).
2. Open the Smart symbols library in one of the following ways:
   • Click Smart Symbol Catalog (How).
   • Select the Library palette and open the Smart symbols folder.
3. Open the External path folder that contains the folder or smart symbol.
4. Point to the folder or smart symbol you want to import and click Modify.
5. Click Copy.

   The folder or smart symbol is copied to the Windows clipboard.

6. Navigate to the folder to which you want to add the folder or smart symbol.
7. Click the folder with the right mouse button and choose Insert on the shortcut menu.

   The new folder or smart symbol is copied to the selected folder and thus added to the smart symbol library of the partner office.
