Using linear elements (e.g., line, circle) or parts thereof as the outline

Entering polylines

Instead of entering the outline again, you can also use existing outlines and elements or parts thereof.

Whenever you select a tool that uses polyline entry tools (for example, pattern, hatching, room), the Input Options appear. You can use these options to specify how the polyline entry tools behave when you generate polylines based on existing elements and how architectural lines are to be handled.

Input options for entering polylines, overview

To use linear elements (e.g., line, circle) or parts thereof as the outline

  1. Select a tool for entering an area (e.g. hatching).

    The Input Options are displayed.

  2. Select the Polygonize entire element option.
  3. The program prompts you to Set properties, place polygon point 1, enter offset. Click an existing element.

Note: Make sure that you do not click near one of the corners of the element. If you do, the system will snap to the corner.

  4. Enter more points or elements until the outline is closed. Use the input options or the drawing aids.
