Moving elements using direct object modification

To move elements using direct object modification

  1. Select the element(s) you want to move.
  2. Point to the handle_move Central move handle, so that it is displayed in green (or in the current Selection preview color). Then click.

The selected elements are attached to the crosshairs. The handle_move Central move handle serves as the drop-in point so that the elements can be placed exactly.

  3. Place the elements where you want in the workspace.

    Click the relevant point.

    Or:

Enter the delta values for the move based on the initial point (the data entry boxes are highlighted in white) or based on any other reference point currently snapped (the data entry boxes are highlighted in yellow) in the Coordinate dialog box.

Or if you want to use a different handle or reference point as the basis for the move:

  1. Select the element(s) you want to move.
  2. Point to the point you want to use as the basis.

    Important!
This must be a defined point in one of the open drawing files.

    The context toolbar appears.

Tip: You can specify the time that is to elapse until the context toolbar appears: select the Options - Desktop environment - Direct object modification - Context toolbar and enter a value from 300 to 20,000 ms for the Time limit. Here, you can also add more tools to the context toolbar.

  3. Click the tool you want to use and move the element(s).

Or if you do not need to place the elements exactly:

  1. Select the elements you want to move.
  2. Point to one of the selected elements (do not get too close to a handle!), so that the symbol is displayed with the crosshairs.
  3. Drag the elements to the new position.

Press and hold down the left mouse button while dragging the elements.
