Copying roofscape and using it in a cross-story manner

If you want to associate components that are not limited to a single story with the roof planes (e.g. an elevator shaft or a chimney with a specific height above the roof), the roofscape is required in a cross-story drawing file (Structure level); the lower roof plane must extend to the basement.

For this, the roofscape is copied in the floor manager and its bottom level is changed accordingly. Then, in the building structure, the planes of the cross-story roofscape are created again in the relevant drawing file.

To copy a roofscape and change its height

  1. Click Open on a Project-Specific Basis and select the Building structure tab.
  2. Click levelManager_16 Floor manager in the Open on a Project-Specific Basis: Drawing Files from Fileset/Building Structure dialog box.
  3. Click the roofscape you want to copy with the right mouse button and, on the shortcut menu, click Copy roof.
  4. Click the structural node to which you want to add the copied roofscape with the right mouse button and, on the shortcut menu, click Insert copy of roof.

The copy of the roofscape is inserted; now you need to change its height.

  5. Enter the new bottom level of the roof in the box.
In the case of a chimney, for example, this may be the bottom level of the basement.
  6. Define how the height of the roof is to change:
  7. Click OK to confirm.
  8. Click OK to confirm the levelManager_16 Floor manager dialog box.
  9. Assign the planes of the cross-story roofscape to the drawing file in the Building structure tab.
Create planes of roofscape in drawing files
