Transparency in animation

Module(s): Associative Views

If you work with associative views and sections, the animation shows the 3D elements instead of the shell entities, which are displayed in the Shell module.
The settings you make for shell entities in the Options on the Animation page are irrelevant. If you still want to display the 3D elements as transparent elements in animation, you can do the following:

If you have selected the "Color stands for pen" option and you do not use surfaces in animation:

  1. Create all concrete components using the same color, which does not match a defined pen color. You can also assign this color to the components later.
  2. Use the Set Surface tool to specify the transparency for this color.
  3. In animation, switch off Color stands for pen in Show/Hide.

If you have not selected the "Color stands for pen" option and you do not use surfaces in animation:

  1. Use the Set Surface tool to specify the transparency for the pen colors assigned to the concrete components.
Make sure that you do not use the redefined pen colors as display colors. Otherwise, components with these colors always appear transparent, regardless of the setting of Color stands for pen.
  2. In animation, select Color stands for pen in Show/Hide.

If you work with surfaces in animation:

  1. Create all concrete components using the same surface or assign this surface to the components later.
For example, you can use the schalung.surf file, which uses the setting you made for shell entities in the Options on the Animation page. You can remove the file's Hidden attribute in the Design folder of the project so that you can save changes.

If you use Content to create the components (e.g. Allplan IBD), the components automatically come with the correct surfaces.

  2. If you want to display the components with or without transparency in animation, click a component with the right mouse button and choose Assign Custom Surfaces to 3D, Archit. Elements.
  3. Click the surface with the right mouse button and select Change surface on the shortcut menu.
  4. Define the transparency for the custom surface and click OK twice to confirm.
  5. If you want, you can save the modified surface file in the project folder under the schalung.surf file.
